Tuesday

The truth be known I am still feeling like crap, if it isn't one thing it is another, and I am over it all!   I am sick to death of taking pills and feeling like I haven't slept!   Today learnt a lesson about probiotics, so am now on a course to help improve my health.  I am going to be positive and I am going to better by this time next week!!

On an awesome note, today is DAY 31 of my no smoking.

My cutie patootie with his healthy glowing cheeks
Daniel is studying Food Technology and also Hospitality and Catering at School,  today he was presented a chefs jacket which he is to wear whenever he is creating in the kitchen.  All these years I have been telling my sons "Never Trust A Skinny Cook cause obviously they don't like there own food" lol I think I will have to rephrase that.

My dear friend Heather asked me the other day in the comments - what does "Lost The Plot" mean in reference to Christopher whilst we were at Goat Island.   "Lost The Plot" meant he dug in his heels, he cried, he totally did not want to do what we were doing or be there.  He was absolutely petrified and I have no clues why.  He would not join us and he does not ever want to return to Goat Island.

Also the other day when Alexandria and I made the Shell hangings, we didn't need to drill holes in the shells as the shells already had holes in them :)

Picnic Pie

8 eggs
1/2 onion, chopped
170 grams ham, bacon or cooked meat such as chicken, chopped
2 grated courgettes - squeezed to remove excess moisture
1 Tablespoon Oil
1 1/2 cups milk

3/4 cup sour cream
3/4 cup grated cheese
1 can whole kernel corn, drained
1 1/2 teaspoon wholegrain mustard

Grease an ovenproof lasange type dish.  In a large bowl, whisk together a quarter of the milk with the flour to make a smooth paste.  Add the remainder of the milk, then whisk in the eggs, sour cream and all the other ingrediants.

Pour into the prepared dish and bake for around 45 minutes until brown on top and no longer wobbly.   Serve hot or cold.

Life - Sunday

Alexandria and I collected hundreds of broken shells yesterday at Pakiri,  so today we created with them,  we made  hanging ornaments for in the trees.

We received tickets to go and watch Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief  this afternoon,  We had no expectations as none of us had ever heard of Percy Jackson.  It was quiet enjoyable, with lots of references to Greek Mythology.  The little kids now want to know more :)

Life - Saturday (Neighbour Date)

We went on a neighbour date today with Mark, Sheree and there girls (Grace and Lucy). We decided to pack a picnic and head up North to Goat Island.  It is absolutely gorgeous, everyone but Christopher (who totally lost the plot)  swam and did a spot of snorkeling.

There was more people than beach space at Goat Island - so we jumped in our cars and headed further up north to Pakiri Beach...

The boys skim boards got a serious workout,   Christopher christened his (birthday present).    Then they took a boogie board out into the surf and that was the last we saw of them for a couple of hours LOL.   Around 5.30pm we decided to head home,   we stopped in Leigh and picked up some Fish & Chips which we took to Matheson Bay and polished off.

Neighbours :)

It has been an absolutely awesome day,  the weather was perfection! We are all going to sleep soundly tonight.

Life - Friday

DOUBLE TROUBLE
I am on the mend,  today I felt the best I have felt in over a week.  Onwards and Upwards!

One of My Australian Domestic Goddess friends was baking Hot Cross Buns today and I said I had the yummiest recipe for Easter Cookies.. so before I forget...

EASTER COOKIES
125g softened butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon rind
1teaspoon mixed spice
1 cup milk chocolate melts
1 beaten egg
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup dried fruit

Preheat over to 180 degrees celcius.  Cream Butter, gradually beat in brown sugar and white sugar.  Beat until light, add lemon rind and mixed spice.   Gradually beat in melted chocolate melts then egg until light and fluffy.  Sift flour and baking soda together and stir into mixture with dried fruit.   Drop tablespoons of mixture on greased oven trays allowing room to spread.   Bake 15 - 17 minutes or until firm.  Cool and Eat.

I plan on doing some baking over the weekend,  so I will add these to the list so I can add a photograph :) to this post.

Life - Happy Birthday Christopher

"The Wa" turned 8 today.  We opted to celebrate quietly,   Jan was here waiting for him upon his return from school,   she presented him with the wacky card that is vocal - when you open it a door bell rings then the card sings Happy Birthday Christopher lol,  he LOVES it,  and is slowly driving me nuts playing it.   This evening he has been concentrating on learning Magic Tricks from a set that Walter bought him.

The February Artisan Notebook is out and I returned as a contributor

When I started doin it digi in 2007,  I subscribed to the Artisan Notebook. I would read the article and soak up the information.   I did my first ever course through  Digital Scrapbook Artisan Guild "An Introduction To Photoshop",   it was absolutely wonderful.   Now I am just a learner junkie :)  This wonderful hobby of ours is forever evolving and I am forever learning new techniques.

Life - Wednesday - 2010 School Year Starts

The kids were ready for school so early this morning, I grabbed a photo opportunity.  Joshuas Form Dean rang just after Joshua left to advise that he is being moved into the same house as his brothers and therefore his form room has changed, but Joshua didn't get the message until after school so the changes will take place tomorrow for him.

It was so strange with no kids at home.  I had to turn on the radio as I am not used to the quiet.   I tried to take things slowly pottering around the house, and whilst doing so I could so many areas I have neglected.

Michael and Daniel are both playing touch rugby this evening for a social team.  They have an 8.30pm game so it is going to be a late night for them.   Tomorrow afternoon they have Touch Rubgy Trials at school,   both boys are trialling for the same team which will make life easier for us supporting them should they be successful.

Life - Tuesday

Today was Joshua s first day at college, and last night he chose to have a hair cut which I think looks awesome.  He was the only one who started the new school year today, so I felt sorry for him.  But he seemed happy when he returned home until we found out the school have put him in the wrong house which also means he is now in the wrong form room.   Siblings are supposed to be in the same house so hopefully it will get sorted tomorrow.

I have finally revamped my blog,   I found this really cool template and have had it sitting on my computer, but I wanted to create a header before I did the big revamp.  My header is created using a couple of Vinnie Pearce Products.

Oh,  another couple of hair cuts have now been had... Christopher decided he needed to see Shaz (our hairdresser before tomorrow) so whilst we were there I booked Michael in.

Life - Monday

It is Auckland Anniversary Day today so we have enjoyed a public holiday.  Not that we have done anything exciting,  thanks to my health and the rain - which on the bright side is great for the tomatoes.   I watched the Grammys online and that's about it.

Daniel decided to cut his own hair the other night, so he whipped out the hairclippers and stuffed up his hair so badly that he had to get Walter to fix it.   I love it,  it is so much tidier than it used to be.

Joshua has his first day at College tomorrow.  Michael has offered to drop him off, as he has an appointment with the Dean.  It is going to be interesting with Michael, Daniel and Joshua all attending the same school. Michael and Daniel don't officially return until Wednesday.

Life - Sunday

I have had enough of being sick,   does someone else want a turn?   This is absolutely miserable!  The weather is yuck which doesn't help matters.   All I can see is housework piling up around me.  I have had enough.  I don't have the energy to get up and do what I can see needs doing.  FRUSTRATING is an understatement.

I watched another movie starting at 5am this morning..

New In Town
My sleeping routine has totally gone out the window.

My diet at the moment :(
Today is Day 21 of my not smoking,    I stopped taking the Nortriptyline on Thursday because I actually thought that the pills were why I was sick.  My doctor said to drop back to just one pill a day but I really don't think I can put up with the side effects - insomnia and dry mouth on top of everything else I am putting up with at the moment.  I don't think so.

I did surfed the web today and ended up spending hours at Wish Bliss Studios,  I am loving Danielles' Shoulder Angels, there descriptions are just gorgeous!

Life - Friday

I haven't been too crash hot these past couple of days, pretty sure it is why I have totally stuffed up my blog posts,  I think I have fixed them all now.

We had another picnic date at Long Bay Beach today.  Christopher, Joshua, Alexandria and I went along. Enroute, I thought I would stop at the doctors as we were a little early for meeting the others and with it being a long weekend in Auckland this weekend I was thinking - better be safe, not sorry.  We all know as mums we soldier on,  we grin and bear that we are feeling like crap and just get on with it.  We don't have time to be sick.   Well I have that attitude, so when I was diagnosed with Glandular Fever I was "Oh Shit!"

I was first of all thankful that I have everything the kids need to start the new school year next week - Tuesday for Joshua and Wednesday for Michael, Daniel, Christopher and Alexandria. Then my thoughts quickly went to the Food Supplies - The cupboards are full.  Yes, I can possibly have a couple of days rest.  No, I don't want to as I am not the sort of person who can sit still on enforced rest.

Anyhow we had a picnic date to attend,  by this time we were an hour late,  but I felt better late than never,   I sat under the trees with the mums, whilst the kids had a run around on the playground.  There were workman fixing the flying fox which has been broken all summer so the kids stalked them until they finished..

On the way home we stopped off at the laboratory as I had to have blood tests,  then we stopped at the pharmacy to pick up a prescription for a throat spray as atm it feels like I am swallowing razor blades.  We popped in and saw Walter who was at a job and then came home where we now stay more than likely for the weekend :(

It is my brothers 40th Birthday today, so Dave - Happy Birthday, hoping you have a fantastic time wherever you are.  Thinking of you and sending loads of Love  xxxx
